About the Work

The painting symbolizes liberation from the oppression that the Palestinian people have endured due to the occupation since the Nakba to the present day. The work is inspired by the ongoing efforts of the people to break free from the imposed barriers. Despite the strict security measures, there is always a path to freedom. The time will come for the end of occupation, military rule, and barriers, allowing escape from the darkness of deprivation and finally breathing in freedom. The footprints represent the return of refugees to their lands, and the fallen helmets of the soldiers at the checkpoints symbolize the end of their oppression. Hope for liberation and freedom persists, and a vision without barriers is possible.
